The West Allis – West Milwaukee School District is the 12th largest public school district in Wisconsin with nearly 9,000 students. The WAWM School District has 17 schools, 3 high schools, 3 intermediate schools, and 11 elementary schools serving the communities of West Allis, West Milwaukee, as well as portions of the Cities of Greenfield and New Berlin. The WAWM Schools offer a variety of opportunities for our students from academics to athletics and fine arts as well as student clubs and activities. There are year-round opportunities offered to our students in all of these areas through our Recreation Department as well. The WAWM Recreation Department provides structured and supervised after school activities and summer programs for the families living in our communities.

Safe and Sober Family Night
Safe and Sober Family Night is a collaboration with the West Allis-West Milwaukee School District, West Allis Police Department and West Allis-West Milwaukee Community Coalition, providing information to parents and students on making positive choices and promoting safe behaviors. Students who attend the program with their parents receive a $10 voucher which can be used toward one event (homecoming, winter formal, or prom). Local businesses also provide gift certificates for drawings at the end of the program.
This annual event is hosted by West Allis Central and Nathan Hale High Schools in alternating years. The first program, held April 19, 2010 at Central, had about 200 people in attendance from both high schools. The second program, held September 20, 2010 at Nathan Hale, had about 350 attendees. The 3rdAnnual Safe and Sober Family Night was held September 26, 2011 at Central.
